Add fantasy furniture props and objects to your mapsThis package is aimed at expanding our first Fantasy Furniture pack with a wealth of new Props and Objects to give Game Masters access to an expanded pallet of accessories that can be added into existing adventure maps, or employed as an Art Asset pack during map construction.

This package continues the fantasy Props and Objects theme with items such as coffins, piles of bones, alters, weapons, as well as mundane tables and chairs.

Compatibility

This package of .png image files can be employed as tokens within virtual tabletop apps such as Fantasy Grounds, Battlegrounds, Roll20, and d20pro. Or the image files can be employed as art assets in apps such as Photoshop or Gimp during map construction.

This package is not a stand alone game.

Object/Prop Tokens Vs Character Tokens

This package contains a number of Object/Prop Token sets and individual tokens. The difference between Object/Prop Tokens and Character Tokens is that Characters are rendered in a number of different action poses, while Object/Prop Tokens are inanimate objects rendered and turning the object 45 degrees between each render.

Illusion is the tricking of the mind, and the distorting of the senses. As a category of magic, its purpose is to alter the target’s perception of reality. The definition of illusion magic has expanded over time to include spells that act as disguises, defenses, and forms of attack. Illusion allows casters to turn invisible, and to confuse their enemies. It even extends into disciplines like hypnosis, and camouflaging auras.

For characters whose lives revolve around exploring the nature of reality, engaging in lies and deceit, and harboring dangerous secrets illusion spells are useful tools. Attacks can be avoided. In battle, opponents can be distracted or even frightened off. Cultures and societies can be thrown into chaos, or made to believe a comforting fiction. The course of individual lives, and the larger forces of history, can unfold in strange and surreal directions because illusion magic exists.

Antagonists will seek the same advantages. They won’t use illusion as ethically as a protagonist would, not by a long shot. They will use this category of magic to hide their own secret lairs. The secrets they protect, and the artifacts they keep disguised, will be used for personal gain. A villain will use magical deception to avoid discovery as they hatch their evil schemes. They will find ways to turn what their enemies see, hear, and experience to tactical advantage, not to avoid or at least lessen the casualties of war, but keep themselves safe during the heat of battle.

As with all magic, there will be some fear and misunderstanding among the common folk. The title illusionist implies that the caster deals in trickery, distortion, and falsehood. Such casters will face resentment from those who feel such power is innately unethical, no matter how it is used. Many people will be afraid of being manipulated, and begin to question their own actions in the presence of an illusionist. There may be a great deal of distrust if illusion magic is used openly, even for entertainment purposes.

In this book, we’ll show you how to utilize illusion in your worldbuilding endeavors. You’ll see how it can influence character, setting, and story elements. By the end, you’ll understand how to make illusion into an essential, useful, and entertaining part of your campaign.

Over the many iterations of the “original fantasy role playing game”, there have been a good many rules systems written to simulate the political aspects of the game, such as war, the conquest and rule of a barony, kingdom, or other political realm, making alliances, building Provinces, etc. Some of the better known were Birthright©, for Second Edition, which had many clever innovations, such as its card-based warfare system, and Eden Odyssey’s Fields of Blood: The Book of War, for Third Edition, which took a very 3rd ed., “difficulty class” approach to the problem.

However, these systems and others like them all took very similar approaches to the “original fantasy role playing system” politics in the following sense: they were based on the ruler (the player character) issuing orders, usually on a seasonal or monthly basis, then possibly paying out money, and rolling dice to see what happens. Sometimes these systems worked well, other times not so much. However, they all shared a certain abstraction that really was not in the spirit of the role playing genre.


What follows is a role playing game of politics and intrigue, of negotiation, backstabbing and war, that is more based on the conventions of role playing gaming than of board gaming abstractions. In the Halls of Power© is a system that allows the ruler to role play his character’s political actions, as he does with the other aspects of his character’s life.
In the Halls of Power© seeks to achieve this by using the convention of the dungeon adventure, common to most role playing games, somewhat modified, to represent political accommodation and strife. Thus, instead of a dismal dungeon, haunted with monsters and the restless spirits of the dead, the Player Character Noble walks the Halls of Power in the Imperial Palace: more gaily painted and brightly lit than the dungeon, but every bit as deadly. Here he seeks not enchanted swords and ancient gems, but the command of fleets and legions, the rulership of provinces (and the vast wealth that they command), titles, offices, and all the rights and privileges of the ruler. He fights enemies that use the tongue as a weapon more often than honest steel, and, when steel is drawn, it is often a blade in the dark tipped with poison.

Also included is a miniatures wargaming system that is, also, much more in line with the conventions of roleplaying than of board gaming.  Battles are fought out, but, as with all great historical and fictional epics, from the doomed victory of Arthur over Mordred at the Battle of Camlann, to that of the Holy League under Don Juan of Austria over the Ottoman fleet under Ali Pasha at Lepanto, to the final battle before the Black Gate that sealed the downfall of Sauron and the reign of Aragorn the great, epic military victories really focus around a critical juncture in the battle.  As the vast bloodbath rages around him, it is hero and villain, and a few loyal champions and guards who truly decide the struggle.

The adventure starts with the PC making his way through a desolate mountain range. Late fall has given way to a frigid winter. Snow and freezing temperatures threaten the PC with death by exposure. A blizzard is near and the PC must find shelter to survive the night. As he enters yet another barren valley, a massive and strange structure blocks his path.
This module can be played as a solo dungeon as intended or run as a standard adventure module with a DM and sin-gle player or multiple players. If used with multiple player characters, the PC level range should be reduced to first level.

The Screaming Temple: The temple arose in the span of a single night! Tall walls hide a mysterious temple steeped in obscurity. Rumors of incredible wealth, abhorrent evil, and dark magic swirl about its secretive walls. The authorities have shown no inter-est, yet rumors persist. No priests have been seen, no markings adorn its walls...in fact no person has come out or gone in. The only signs of life are the occasional nightmarish screams that shatter the night.


Eruptor’s Vengeance: In a forest glade a horrific battle has ended in a draw with all the combatants lying in ruin. A red dragon and its attackers have all fallen in glorious battle. The race is on to recover the dragon’s treasure horde. But tangling with a dead dragon can be a dangerous enterprise.


Death on Signal Island: The easiest assignment in the navy! Simply man the small fort and watch the ships go by. Nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the sun. Until now. Without warning, communication from the island has ceased. The investigation must be quick and discrete. Only the bravest adventurers can defeat certain Death on Signal Island!


The Final Chapter: The orcs threw themselves in against the wall of the small woodland keep in a berserk rage. The small contin-gent of soldiers fought with equal ferocity and in the end, not a single orc remained. Years later, a dwarf entrepreneur bought the old fort and converted it into an inn and tavern, the now famous Green Grizzly. Your long trek through the woods has brought you to the inn but something is clearly wrong as not a soul can be found!


These four scenarios are Quick Play™ adventures designed for 4 to 8 characters of 2nd to 4th level. The scenarios require the use of the First Edition game rules or OSRIC rules system. Quick Play adventures are designed for a single game session and come complete with pre-generated characters if needed. They monster reference charts for ease of use for the DM.
