Vignette I. CIRCUS
On Tuesday, October 6th, 1868, an advance man for the famous Blanche Brothers Circus arrives in town. Plastering Stetson City with playbills, he announces the arrival of the celebrated show, featuring, “marvelous music, comical clowns, amazing animals, showy shootin’, wonderful whip tricks, and fantastic feats of horsemanship, agility, strength and gymnastics.” But all at the circus is not exactly as it appears…
Vignette II. BANK HEIST
The PCs are in their room on the second floor of the Stetson City Hotel. Hearing turmoil outside, they rush to the window and spy its cause, three masked bandits emerging from the Stetson City Savings and Loan. Having just attempted to pull off a robbery, their heist has gone awry. Will the owlhoots escape or can the PCs kill or apprehend them first?
Vignette III. TEXAS NED
The PCs, playing poker in the main room of the Stetson City Saloon, are approached by a stranger, introducing himself as Texas Ned. He begins a wild tale with “whats I gots to say to ya gots to be said without any stranger’s a’hearin. It’ll benefit us both a great deal, friends, I’ma promisin’ ye..” His promise portends to profit the PCs greatly if they play their cards right.
Vignette IV. CAPTIVES
Riding near the far western border of the Cartwill spread, investigating a rash of rustling, the PCs suddenly spy two teepees, and realize they’ve come across a small Indian encampment. A bedraggled man dressed in eastern duds dashes out of one of the teepees, hollering, “They got my sister too, oh Lord, my sister! Help us! Please!” as he sprints frantically towards the PCs…
Vignette V. COWPOKE CONFRONTED
Outside the office of Henry Adair, Attorney at Law, the PCs witness a scene...“You, thar, boy, what you think yar ben doin’ up to the Webster Farm?” growls Junior Shaw, son of prominent rancher Jack Shaw, as he and a group of wranglers from the Shaw Ranch deride a young cowpoke, “makin’ time with Betsy? Dude, ya better stay away from her, and iffin ye don’t, we’re a gonna give ya a taste right now of what’s in store…”
